Integrative Multi-System Psychiatric Assessment
Your psychological well-being is normally shaped by multiple inter-related systems including, but not limited to, lifestyle, cultural, social, behavioral, medical, psychiatric, psychological, and spiritual. Since Dr. Matsuki was trained in traditional psychiatry, psychoanalysis, and primary care medicine, he would work within multiple systems to gain a complete understanding of issues affecting you, and develop a multi-system plan to resolve these issues.
Dr. Matsuki’s initial assessment consists of one to two sessions, and each session takes about one hour. In this comprehensive in-person assessment, a deep exploration of your present condition, current stressors, medical history, mental health history, and life history will be included. It is often recommended to take diagnostic testing to determine whether any medical issue, which may manifest itself as a psychiatric illness, should be ruled in or out, and if there are any nutritional deficiencies, which may be treated with supplements and life style modifications, to be examined.
After the complete evaluation, Dr. Matsuki will recommend frequency and modes of treatment (psychotherapy, exercise program, diet modification, life style modification, medication management, supplement, management of underlying medical condition, etc.) as part of your personalized treatment plan. If Dr. Matsuki believes that a treatment outside the scope of his practice is required, he may refer you to appropriate specialists.
Medication Management
In general, Dr. Matsuki only uses the lowest doses of medication possible to restore balanced functioning, based on his advanced training on and knowledge of the various medication options available. Dr. Matsuki will work with you to provide a mutually agreed-upon treatment program. For instance, some clients may receive treatment with medication management alone, and other clients may receive treatment with medication and psychotherapy combined.
Psychotherapy
Although the severity of your symptoms may be mitigated by medications, those medications can address only a part of the issues. In addition to education about medication management, you need ongoing psychotherapy in conjunction with medication management to achieve the most successful outcome. For you to learn about yourself and create change in your life, psychotherapy is the key to provide a safe, confidential, and supportive therapeutic environment. Dr. Matsuki, with his specialized training, is capable of helping patients with a wide range of psychological disorders to understand and change complex, deep-rooted and often unconsciously based emotional and relationship issues, which will result in reduced symptoms and mitigated distress. If you are experiencing a loss of meaning in your life or seeking a greater sense of fulfillment, you could also benefit from psychotherapy.
