Dr. Hiroe Imai Hu, DO
Psychiatrist
- Dr. Hu is a licensed psychiatrist in the greater Washington DC area and state of California. She graduated residency from Medstar-Georgetown University Hospital and is a current Clinical Research Fellow at National Institute of Mental Health under the Experimental Therapeutics and Pathophysiology Branch. Her current research is focused on treatment-resistant depression and novel agents for the treatment of mood disorders.
- Dr. Hu is originally from Ashiya, Hyogo.
- She attended Brown University for undergraduate and Touro University California College of Osteopathic Medicine for medical school.
- Prior to starting residency, Dr. Hu has done a number of research projects and published journal articles in Integrative Medicine, Contemplative Psychology and Cultural Psychiatry (focusing on Japanese cultural perspectives).
- During residency, Dr. Hu has also been involved with cutting-edge research in psychopharmacology and mood disorders at the National Institute of Mental Health.
- The breadth of scholarly accomplishments, combined with her own multicultural background, has informed her clinical philosophy today to understand and treat the patient through encompassing the biological, somatic, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual aspects of the person.
