Dr. Hiroe Imai Hu is a board-certified psychiatrist serving the greater Washington, D.C. area. She provides compassionate, evidence-based and culturally informed care in both English and Japanese, and has been seeing patients at this practice since 2023. Dr. Hu completed her psychiatry residency at Georgetown University Hospital and is currently a Clinical Fellow in Psychiatry at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), where she conducts research on treatment-resistant depression and neuroendocrinology. Originally from Ashiya in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, Dr. Hu has lived and studied in the United States since college. She holds degrees in Chemical Engineering and Contemplative Psychology from Brown University and brings a unique cross-cultural perspective to her clinical work. Her academic research includes publications in cross-cultural psychology, with a focus on Japanese language, identity, and embodied practices. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Hu is an active researcher and writer who is passionate about staying current with scientific advances in psychiatry. Her background enables her to provide thoughtful, personalized care to individuals navigating complex emotional, cultural, and medical landscapes.
